Virat Kohli created history in the 2016 Indian Premier League as he became the highest run-getter in a single edition of the tournament during the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. Kohli smashed his 24th fifty and on 57, he tapped Shakib Al Hasan to deep cover for a single and in the process, he created another record. Kohli became the highest run-getter in one edition of the tournament. Before Kohli, Chris Gayle and Michael Hussey had scored 733 runs in a single edition. Gayle achieved the feat in the 2012 edition for Royal Challengers Bangalore while Hussey achieved it in the 2013 edition for Chennai Super Kings.
