Thrilling Last Over's In The Cricket History
I am only talking about ODI and Test Cricket here.
Its difficult to choose one specific moment because there have been many. Here' s a small list of some of them.
1. South Africa's monumental chase of 434 in one day cricket. The match, against all expectations had boiled down to the last over, the last two balls, and Mark Boucher showed great nerve to see his team across the line.
2. England's Ashes 2005 win over Australia had quite a few nerve-wrecking moments.
3. Underdogs India beating tournament favourites West Indies and clinching their first ever world cup.
4. The 1999 world-cup semifinal between South Africa and Australia. What a game of cricket that had been! Lance Klusener had played the innings of his life that day. That was a low-scoring game and even then, the Australians as always, showed grit and character to make it impossible for the Proteas to reach 213. Lance Klusener single-handedly stole the game from the mighty Australians but couldn't see the team through.
5. The 2015 world-cup group-stage match between New Zealand and Australia was one hell of a game! With Australia getting bundled out for a meagre 151 their bowlers had their tasks cut out. With McCullum going after everyone throwing the ball at him, the Black caps could smell victory from a distance. But little did they know that they were up against the world's greatest cricketing nation. Mitchell Starc of Australia ran havoc as he ripped through the New Zealand batting line-up and 151 seemed like a dream now. Starc cleaned up good, picking up six wickets within no time. He left New Zealand wanting 6 more runs with only one wicket remaining! But showing great resilience and patience, New Zealand's Kane Williamson made a statement by sending one ball off Cummins' over out of the ground for a six and won the game.
6. Last but not the least, South Africa vs New Zealand, first semi final, 2015.
This was a well-balanced game and everybody expected a nail-biting contest, well we did get that, didn' t we?With New Zealand needing 5 off the last 2 deliveries, and an unknown Grant Elliot standing ground against one of the best bowler's of the time, Dale Steyn, everyone was at the edge of their seats. What happened is known to all, but this was one game which set the cricketing world's hearts racing.
